WooCommerce

With the WooCommerce integration, your ChatNorris agent answers about your store’s orders and inventory without leaving the chat. Depending on what you turn on, the agent:
  • tells the status, total and items of an order, only after verifying that it belongs to the visitor;
  • searches products (by SKU or by name) and answers the current availability and price;
  • uses your product catalog and its variations (size, color, dimensions) as a knowledge source to answer general questions.
It works in the web widget, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, Email, and the API.

Requirements

  • A ChatNorris account on the Standard or Premium plan. You can see the plans at chatnorris.ai/pricing.
  • At least one agent created in ChatNorris. If you don’t have one yet, follow Create an agent.
  • A WooCommerce store with the REST API enabled and access to the WordPress dashboard to generate the API keys (Consumer key and Consumer secret).
  • The Owner or Admin role in your ChatNorris organization.

Connect WooCommerce

Each agent connects to one WooCommerce store. You connect it only once in Integrations, and both the WooCommerce Action and the WooCommerce knowledge source use that connection.
1

Generate the API keys in WooCommerce

In the WordPress dashboard, open WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API and generate a key. Copy the Consumer key and the Consumer secret.
2

Open the agent's Integrations hub

In ChatNorris, go to My agents → [your agent] → Integrations and choose WooCommerce.
3

Fill in the details and connect

Enter the Store URL, the Consumer key and the Consumer secret, and click Connect.
4

Test the connection

Use Test connection to confirm that the credentials work before you use them in the Action or in the knowledge source.
The keys are stored encrypted: the hub only shows their last 4 characters. If you rotate the keys in WooCommerce, use Replace key in the row’s ··· menu; the connection stays the same, so the Action and the source that use it are not affected.
ChatNorris only reads orders and products from your store: it doesn’t create or change anything in WooCommerce.

Configure the Action

Connecting the store doesn’t turn anything on yet. To choose what the agent can look up:
1

Create the WooCommerce Action

Go to My agents → [your agent] → Actions, click New action, and choose WooCommerce. If you haven’t connected the store yet, the screen takes you straight to Integrations.
2

Choose what data the agent can look up

In Data access (see the table below).
3

Configure order verification

With Order verification on, the agent requires the order number plus at least one of these details before showing any information: Billing email, Billing phone, or Billing postal code.
4

Enable the Action and save

Turn on Enabled in the General section and save. From then on, the agent uses your store in all its conversations.
Claude Sonnet or higher is recommended as the agent’s main model (Settings → AI). The action reveals an order’s data only after verifying it, and in testing Haiku sometimes answers as if the data were already confirmed even when it isn’t. The action’s form shows this notice with a link to the AI settings.
One store per agent. An agent can have only one active store for looking up orders and stock (for example WooCommerce or Odoo). If you try to enable a second one, ChatNorris asks you to first turn off order and stock lookup in the other one. Odoo can stay active for leads and tickets alongside a WooCommerce store.

How the visitor looks up an order

In the web widget, when the agent detects that the visitor wants an order’s status, it doesn’t ask for the details by text: it shows an embedded form inside the chat with two fields — Order number and Email or phone used for the purchase. The form and the answer are shown in the widget’s language (Spanish, English, or Portuguese), and it’s the same for WooCommerce and Odoo. While the form is pending, the visitor can’t write another message until they fill it in or cancel it.
  • If the details match a real order, the agent answers with the status, total and items.
  • If they don’t match, the agent says it couldn’t verify the order and asks the visitor to check the number and the contact detail — it never shows unverified information.
  • An order that doesn’t exist and a detail that doesn’t match get the same answer, so no one can guess order numbers. After 5 failed attempts in the same conversation, order lookup is blocked.
In WhatsApp and Instagram (where there are no embedded forms), the agent asks for these same details conversationally, in the text chat.

Price and stock lookup

With Inventory on, the agent queries the store every time it’s about to talk about a product’s price or stock, even if it already looked it up earlier in the conversation: price and availability come from your store at that moment, not from the knowledge base. If the visitor asks for a recommendation without naming a product (“what do you recommend for 5 people?”), the agent queries the live catalog and suggests one or two specific options with their price, avoiding those that are out of stock. With the Action active, the Knowledge Base source list also shows the informational row Live WooCommerce catalog, with the Live label and the View action link. It isn’t a source: it indicates that the agent checks price and stock directly in the store in every conversation, so it doesn’t use characters or need syncing.

Import the catalog into the knowledge base

You can bring your WooCommerce store’s product catalog into the knowledge base as another source, so the agent answers general questions about products (not just specific availability). You only need the store connected in Integrations: you don’t need the WooCommerce Action active, which is configured separately (order and stock lookup).
1

Open the WooCommerce source

Go to My agents → [your agent] → Knowledge Base → Add source and choose WooCommerce. If the store isn’t connected yet, click Connect in Integrations: there you enter the store URL and the WooCommerce API keys, only once per agent.
2

Click Sync catalog

With the store connected, go back to the WooCommerce source and click Sync catalog (or Resync if you had already brought in the catalog before). You can also do it from the Knowledge Base section of the WooCommerce Action’s settings screen.
3

Wait for processing

Up to 2,000 published products are brought in. For each one, it indexes: name, SKU, price, availability (in stock / out of stock) and description. It goes through the same processing pipeline as any other source (Pending → Processing → Ready).
If you also have the WooCommerce Action active to look up orders or stock, sync the catalog too so the agent answers general product questions.
This source appears with its own WooCommerce filter in the knowledge base table, and it has no Edit button — the content is generated automatically from your store, it isn’t edited by hand.
Catalog sync is manual: there’s no auto-sync for this source. If prices, stock or products change in your store, click Sync catalog again to update the knowledge base.
This is different from the WooCommerce Action’s real-time inventory lookup: the synced catalog is for general product questions (“what t-shirts do you have?”), while the Action looks up the specific stock and price at the time of the conversation.

Product variations (size, color, etc.)

If your store has variable products (for example, a t-shirt with different sizes and colors), in the same panel you’ll find Product variations. Generate variations creates a map from attributes (dimensions, color, etc.) to SKU for all products with variations, so the agent can answer questions about features without relying only on the live lookup. With View generated content you review the result, and with Download .txt you download it. This content is regenerated on every sync and can’t be edited: if you need corrections, add them in a separate text source. Unlike the catalog, variations resync automatically at your plan’s frequency: weekly on Standard and daily on Premium.
An agent uses a store through the API or through its public site, not both. If it already has the WooCommerce Action with order or stock lookup active, the panel of the Online store (public site) source warns you and takes you to Actions.

Credits

Connecting and testing the store doesn’t use credits. Each agent response that queries your store live (orders, or price and stock) adds 0.5 AI credit to the response’s normal cost, only once per response. Tests in the Playground don’t add this charge. The imported catalog and variations use characters of your knowledge base like any other source. See AI models and credits.

Pause or disconnect

  • Pause: turn off the Active switch on the WooCommerce row in Integrations. The credentials are kept, but the Action can’t query the store and the knowledge source doesn’t sync; content already indexed is still used. Turn the switch back on to resume it.
  • Disconnect: from the ··· menu or the WooCommerce detail, click Disconnect. Before you confirm, ChatNorris shows you what depends on the connection. The WooCommerce Action is turned off, but its configuration is kept; the knowledge source is deactivated, but content already indexed is kept. The keys are deleted from ChatNorris.
To use the Action and the source again, connect the store again and reactivate them. If you’re no longer going to use the keys, revoke them in WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API.

Frequently asked questions

You need a WooCommerce store with the REST API enabled and credentials (Consumer key and Consumer secret) generated from the WordPress dashboard. Use Test connection in Integrations to confirm that everything is set up correctly.
No, the embedded form is exclusive to the web widget. In WhatsApp and Instagram the agent asks for the order number and the verification detail conversationally, in the text chat.
No. Syncing the catalog to the knowledge base is manual — click Sync catalog every time you want to bring in changes to prices, stock or new products. Variations do resync on their own at your plan’s frequency, and the price and stock the Action answers always come from the live store.
No. Existing connections were migrated automatically to the Integrations hub — you’ll find them already connected there. You only need to reconnect if the connection shows as Needs attention.
No. Each provider supports only one connection per agent. If you need to connect different stores, use separate agents.
No. An agent uses a single store so it doesn’t answer two different prices for the same product. If you have two stores, create one agent for each. See Jumpseller.
Yes, with one condition: prices and stock come from only one of the two. The usual setup is to leave stock and price in Laudus, and order lookup in WooCommerce. If you import both catalogs into the knowledge base, the agent sees the products twice: keep only one active. See Laudus.
