ChatNorris Inbox (mobile app)

ChatNorris Inbox is the version of ChatNorris for your phone: a simple inbox to see who asked to talk to a person, take the conversation and reply, with push notifications.
  • It’s not on the App Store or Google Play. It’s a web app (PWA): you install it from your phone’s browser and it stays as one more icon on your home screen.
  • Available on all plans, at no additional cost and with no prior enablement.
  • It’s designed for handling conversations. Agent configuration and the rest of the dashboard stay on the computer.

Install the app

1

Open ChatNorris in Safari

Go to app.chatnorris.ai in Safari and sign in. On iPhone the app can only be installed from Safari.
2

Add it to the home screen

In Conversations, the Install ChatNorris on your iPhone card appears. Tap Share and then Add to Home Screen.
3

Open it from the icon

Open ChatNorris from the new icon, not from Safari. Only then can you turn on notifications.
Push notifications on iPhone require iOS 16.4 or later and the app installed on the home screen. From Safari, without installing, they don’t arrive.
When you open the installed app on your phone, ChatNorris takes you straight to the mobile view (/inbox), even if you come in through another page or right after signing in. If you tap a notification, that conversation opens directly.

Turn on push notifications

1

Tap Enable notifications

With the app open, the Get handoffs on your phone card appears in the conversation list. Tap Enable notifications.
2

Accept the permission

The phone asks for permission to show notifications: accept it.
3

If you blocked them

You’ll see the Notifications blocked card. Turn them on in the phone’s settings for ChatNorris and open the app again.
You can also check or turn on notifications from the Settings icon in the mobile view: there you see whether they’re On for this device and you can change the language.
Push notifications are per device: turn them on on each phone or browser where you want to receive them.

Use the mobile view

Conversation list

The list has three tabs: Each row shows the visitor’s name, the channel, the last message, the agent and the Waiting label if it’s waiting for a person. Unread ones are highlighted. The list refreshes on its own every few seconds, and you can force it with the Refresh button. To close a conversation from the list, swipe the row to the left and tap Close.

Full-screen conversation

Tap a row to open the conversation:
  • Handoff summary: if the conversation was escalated, the summary appears above the messages. Tap it to expand it (Show more) or collapse it.
  • Status and Take: a bar shows who’s handling it (Asked to talk to a person, The bot is handling it or [name] is handling it for another person). Tap Take to assign it to yourself.
  • Reply: type in Write a message and send. Enter sends the message; Shift+Enter adds a line break.
  • Contact details: tap the visitor’s name, or the ⋮ menu → Contact details, to see their name, email, phone, company and other captured details. You can tap the email or phone to write to them or call them.
  • Close conversation: ⋮ menu → Close conversation. The visitor receives a goodbye message.
If the conversation belongs to another team, you can see it, but only that team (or an Owner/Admin) can take it or reply.

Open the full version

If you need something that isn’t in the mobile view, tap Open full version (in a conversation’s ⋮ menu or in Settings). During that session the app doesn’t take you back to the mobile view; when you close it and open it again, you go back to /inbox.

Which alerts arrive

The channels for each event are configured in Settings → Notifications, and each person can turn off their own (or limit them to their conversations) in My account → My notifications. Full details in Notifications. For how the handover to a person works, see Live chat and handoff.
