# ChatNorris Inbox (mobile app)

> Install ChatNorris on your phone to take handoffs and reply to conversations from there, with push notifications.

# ChatNorris Inbox (mobile app)

ChatNorris Inbox is the version of ChatNorris for your phone: a simple inbox to see who asked to talk to a person, take the conversation and reply, with push notifications.

* **It's not on the App Store or Google Play.** It's a web app (PWA): you install it from your phone's browser and it stays as one more icon on your home screen.
* **Available on all plans**, at no additional cost and with no prior enablement.
* It's designed for handling conversations. Agent configuration and the rest of the dashboard stay on the computer.

## Install the app

> [tab] iPhone (Safari)
>
> **1. Open ChatNorris in Safari**
>
> Go to `app.chatnorris.ai` in **Safari** and sign in. On iPhone the app can only be installed from Safari.
>
> **2. Add it to the home screen**
>
> In **Conversations**, the **Install ChatNorris on your iPhone** card appears. Tap **Share** and then **Add to Home Screen**.
>
> **3. Open it from the icon**
>
> Open ChatNorris from the new icon, not from Safari. Only then can you turn on notifications.
>
> > [!NOTE]
> >
> > Push notifications on iPhone require **iOS 16.4 or later** and the app installed on the home screen. From Safari, without installing, they don't arrive.

> [tab] Android (Chrome)
>
> **1. Open ChatNorris in Chrome**
>
> Go to `app.chatnorris.ai` in **Chrome** and sign in.
>
> **2. Install the app**
>
> Tap the install icon in the address bar, or open the menu (⋮) and choose **Install app** (or **Add to Home screen**, depending on your Chrome version). Confirm.
>
> **3. Open it from the icon**
>
> Open ChatNorris from the new icon on your home screen.

When you open the installed app on your phone, ChatNorris takes you straight to the mobile view (`/inbox`), even if you come in through another page or right after signing in. If you tap a notification, that conversation opens directly.

## Turn on push notifications

**1. Tap Enable notifications**

With the app open, the **Get handoffs on your phone** card appears in the conversation list. Tap **Enable notifications**.

**2. Accept the permission**

The phone asks for permission to show notifications: accept it.

**3. If you blocked them**

You'll see the **Notifications blocked** card. Turn them on in the phone's settings for ChatNorris and open the app again.

You can also check or turn on notifications from the **Settings** icon in the mobile view: there you see whether they're **On for this device** and you can change the language.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Push notifications are per device: turn them on on each phone or browser where you want to receive them.

## Use the mobile view

### Conversation list

The list has three tabs:

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Waiting** | Open conversations where the visitor asked to talk to a person. It's the default tab. |
| **Mine** | Open conversations assigned to you. |
| **All** | All conversations, including closed ones. |

Each row shows the visitor's name, the channel, the last message, the agent and the **Waiting** label if it's waiting for a person. Unread ones are highlighted. The list refreshes on its own every few seconds, and you can force it with the **Refresh** button.

To close a conversation from the list, **swipe the row to the left** and tap **Close**.

### Full-screen conversation

Tap a row to open the conversation:

* **Handoff summary**: if the conversation was escalated, the summary appears above the messages. Tap it to expand it (**Show more**) or collapse it.
* **Status and Take**: a bar shows who's handling it (**Asked to talk to a person**, **The bot is handling it** or **\[name] is handling it** for another person). Tap **Take** to assign it to yourself.
* **Reply**: type in **Write a message** and send. **Enter** sends the message; **Shift+Enter** adds a line break.
* **Contact details**: tap the visitor's name, or the ⋮ menu → **Contact details**, to see their name, email, phone, company and other captured details. You can tap the email or phone to write to them or call them.
* **Close conversation**: ⋮ menu → **Close conversation**. The visitor receives a goodbye message.

> [!NOTE]
>
> If the conversation belongs to another [team](https://docs.chatnorris.ai/en/guias/equipo.md), you can see it, but only that team (or an Owner/Admin) can take it or reply.

### Open the full version

If you need something that isn't in the mobile view, tap **Open full version** (in a conversation's ⋮ menu or in **Settings**). During that session the app doesn't take you back to the mobile view; when you close it and open it again, you go back to `/inbox`.

## Which alerts arrive

| Alert | When it arrives |
| - | - |
| **Chat waiting** | A visitor asks to talk to a person (handoff). |
| **Visitor message** | The visitor writes in a conversation a person is already handling (just escalated or assigned). It goes to whoever it's assigned to or, if nobody has taken it yet, to the whole team. |
| **Handoff still unanswered / Handoff overdue** | Nobody replied to the handoff within the first-reply target. |

The channels for each event are configured in **Settings → Notifications**, and each person can turn off their own (or limit them to their conversations) in **My account → My notifications**. Full details in [Notifications](https://docs.chatnorris.ai/en/guias/notificaciones.md). For how the handover to a person works, see [Live chat and handoff](https://docs.chatnorris.ai/en/guias/chat-en-vivo-handoff.md).
